Macleay's Honeyeater
Xanthotis macleayana

This honeyeater is an inhabitant of the wet tropical rainforest of northern Queensland. Its diet consists of fruit, nectar and insects. It is important in the pollination of many rainforest species as it transfers pollen when feeding on nectar. Although its colours are subdued, it is quite distinctive with the breast streaking and bare patch around the eye. They are medium-sized for honeyeaters at 20 cm.
