Spotted Catbird
Ailuroedus melanotis
The Spotted Catbird is a bowerbird native to northern Queensland and is closely related to the Green Catbird found from souther-eastern Queensland down the coast of NSW. They are quite large at 24-33 cm and are named after one of their calls, which sounds like an angry cat. They can also make a call like a crying newborn baby. They are agile in rainforests, hopping between branches and feed on fruit, seeds flowers and insects and occasionally eggs and small animals.
