Long-nosed Bandicoot
Perameles nasuta

Long-nosed Bandicoots are rodent-like marsupials that are roughly rabbit-sized at 40 cm in length (with a tail of up to 14 cm) and occurr along the eastern coastal areas of Australia from Qld to Vic. As with other burrowing marsupials, they have a backwards-pointing pouch so that it dosn't fill with earth while they are rooting around for grubs and worms at night.
