(Common) Pheasant
Phasianus colchicus

Pheasants are not native to Britain, but may have been introduced before the Roman invasion. Two main groups are present in the UK, torquatus (white neck ring) and colchicus (no neck ring) and many intermediate birds. The males are brightly coloured, while the females are light brown.
