(Ruddy) Turnstone

These small waders are often winter visitors to the UK. They use their small bills to turn over stones to look for food and often favour pebbly beaches. They can be easy to approach and can be seen in large flocks. These birds are in their winter coats – the summer males are bright rusty orange.
