South Island Pied Oystercatcher
Haematopus finschi

South Island Pied Oystercatchers (often abbreviated to South Island Oystercatcher or just SIPO) are one of two native species of oystercatcher in New Zealand, the other being the Variable Oystercatcher. They breed mainly on the South Island in the summer, but many migrate to the North Island in the winter.
