Welcome Swallow
Hirundo neoxena

Welcome Swallows are a relatively new bird to New Zealand, having first arrived around 60 years ago, possibly having followed ships across from Australia. They are the only native hirundine (swallows and martins), although occasional Fairy Martins turn up as stragglers.
