Black Swan
Cygnus atratus

These birds are native to Australia, but were introduced to parts of Europe. They have been present in Switzerland for some years and breed around Thun and along the Aare. There is currently a program in place to remove such introduced species from Switzerland, which will also affect the Ruddy Shelduck popuation there. Wild Black Swans can be seen on this page.
